Documents Required for a CGTMSE Loan: The Complete Checklist for a ₹1 Cr+ File

The bank wants four bundles: entity, financials, banking and credit, along with three prerequisites. A file is ready only when every bundle is complete and the numbers across them agree. The guarantee follows the bank's appraisal. It never replaces it.

This checklist applies to MSE files seeking cover under the credit guarantee scheme. For the rules of the scheme itself, read the CGTMSE scheme guide.

Before the documents: what are the three prerequisites?

Before gathering paperwork, put these three baseline items in order:

  • Udyam Registration Number (URN), mandatory for guarantee cover under CGTMSE Circular 206/2022-23 for applications lodged on or after 16-Jan-2023.
  • PAN (to be indicated for loans above ₹5 lakh) and GST registration.
  • The business name must be identical across PAN, Udyam, GST and the bank account.

What documents does the bank need? (four groups)

The lender reads your business through four document groups. The list below is the business loan document list for a ₹1 Cr+ CGTMSE or working-capital file in India; check two things against it: that every item is present and that the numbers agree from one group to the next.

1. Entity and promoters

  • KYC of the entity and every promoter: PAN, Aadhaar, address proof.
  • Constitution documents: partnership deed / MoA-AoA with Certificate of Incorporation / registration certificate, as applicable; list of directors or partners with shareholding.
  • Company profile: business, products, key customers, suppliers, capacity.

2. Financials

  • Last 3 years' ITR with computation.
  • Last 3 years' audited balance sheet and P&L, with audit report and schedules.
  • Current-year provisional figures, signed.
  • Working capital: CMA data / projections · Term loan: project report (cost of project, means of finance), machinery quotations, shed or land papers where applicable.

3. Banking

  • Last 12 months' statements of ALL current and CC accounts (some banks ask for 13).
  • Sanction letters of existing loans and repayment track (RTR).
  • If a CC exists: latest stock and book-debt statement.

4. Tax and credit

  • 12 months' GST returns (GSTR-3B and GSTR-1) and the GST-sales ↔ ITR-sales reconciliation.
  • CIBIL: promoters' personal reports, the business's commercial report and CMR; the bank pulls them, so know the numbers before you file.

What changes on the hybrid route?

On the hybrid route the business offers partial collateral and the remaining unsecured portion carries the guarantee cover. The bank asks for property papers only for that pledged portion: the title chain with the sanctioned plan, and a valuation. A plain guarantee file needs none of these.

The route itself is explained in the guide to a CGTMSE loan without collateral .

Which mistake stops a file?

Credit officers stop appraisal when basic details clash across papers. The usual triggers:

  • A name mismatch across PAN, Udyam, GST and bank records.
  • Missing months in the bank statements.
  • Provisional figures without a signature.
  • GST sales that do not match ITR sales.
  • Sanction letters of old loans not on file.
  • Customer receipts landing in personal accounts, so turnover is not routed through the business account.

What does a "ready" file actually mean?

A ready file meets three tests:

  • All four groups are complete.
  • The figures agree from one group to the next, without discrepancies.
  • The file has been checked against the bank's own norms before login.

A complete list is the start, not the test. At Credit Core Finance (CCF) we grade the file against the bank's own norms before any login, and say what is missing with the reason.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many years of ITR are needed?

You need the last 3 years' ITR along with the computation of income.

How many months of bank statements?

You must provide the last 12 months' statements for every operative current account and cash credit account. Some nationalized banks and private banks ask for 13 months.

Which documents does a new unit need?

A new unit requires promoter KYC, proof of promoter margin, machinery quotations, and a project report covering project cost and means of finance. New units are eligible without past ITR history.

What if we don't have 12 months of GST returns?

The plain route needs 12 months of GST returns. If your business has a shorter tax track record, the hybrid route with partial collateral serves as the alternative.

What if we have no Udyam registration?

Obtain the URN first. Under CGTMSE Circular 206/2022-23, an active Udyam registration is mandatory to obtain guarantee cover.

How should we send the documents?

Send clear PDF files rather than mobile photos. Identity documents (Aadhaar, PAN) and full bank statements are sensitive: share them only after an introductory call, either in person or by email to info@creditcore.finance, never over WhatsApp chat.
